From completing the first section of the main line 23 days ahead of schedule, to entering the third phase of construction 45 days in advance, the East Coast Railway Link of Malaysia, a key project under “the belt and Road Initiative” has seen continuous acceleration thanks to the application of the CCPG500A intelligent multi-scene track-laying unit “Penglai” custom-made by China Railway Science and Industry Group Co., Ltd. under CRHIC. Up to now, over 200 kilometers of rails have been laid, with the overall progress exceeding one-third.
The “Penglai” track-laying unit mainly consists of rail tractor, main engine, traction power car, sleeper rail transport train, sleeper gantry crane, hydraulic system and electrical system. Among them, the main engine as the largest component is 30.7 meters long, 3 meters wide, 5 meters high, and weighs 108 tons.
