On the occasion of China Railway Group Limited’s (known as CREC) labor emulation titled “Fighting COVID-19, Maintaining Growth and Working Hard for 100 Days”, its first air train test line lands in the Jiangxia Manufacturing Base of China Railway Science & Industry Group (CRSIG) under CRHIC. Operation test is now held on the test line, with operation parameters all satisfying the design requirements.
Availing China’s generous support for the new rail transit, CRHIC has started planning in the new-type rail transit industry as early as 2017, covering three new systems including straddle, maglev, and suspended types.
Air train is a representative of new type rail transit in the new infrastructure construction. CRSIG, relying on the full-industry china (investment, design, construction, operation and management) platform of CREC, proactively takes the initiative in the tide of new infrastructure construction. It now has possessed a complete set of technologies for suspended rail transit system with proprietary intellectual property rights, developed a series of core technologies such as bogie, car body, electrical system, integrated monitoring system, line smoothness and unmanned driving, and applied for a total of 40 patents including 11 inventions.
Air train (also called sky train) refers to suspended monorail train which travels by 'suspending on' the rail supported above it in the air by steel or cement columns. Compared with subway, light rail, streetcar and other rail transits, air train occupies less space, enjoys wide open vision, and has its unique advantages in terms of short construction duration and flexible marshalling. The New Era Air Train developed by CRSIG has a maximum speed of 80km per hour, a transport capacity of 300 to 400 passengers per trip which is about half that of the subway, and a passenger flow of 10,000 per hour, mainly serving the suburbs of large cities, medium-sized cities and tourist attractions.
