The Slussen Bridge (Golden Bridge) was opened to traffic in Stockholm, capital of Sweden, on October 25 (Sweden Time).Three generations of the Swedish royal family including King Carl XVI Gustaf, 74, Crown Princess Victoria, 43 and her eight-year-old daughter, Princess Estelle, came to cut the ribbon for the Golden Bridge at Slussen, Stockholm.
After cutting a yellow ribbon for the Golden Bridge, the Swedish royal family members walked through an archway with fireworks and stepped onto new bridge. They are the first to set foot on the bridge. In a passionate speech at the ribbon-cutting ceremony, King Carl XVI Gustaf said that, the Golden Bridge made in China links the history and the future of Sweden, as it connects the north and the south of the Swedish capital and unites Mälaren and Saltsjön, the mouth of the Baltic Sea.
The 'Made in China' product mentioned by the King is the entire steel structure of the Slussen Bridge, which is made by China Railway Shanhaiguan Bridge Group Co., Ltd. (CRSBG) affiliated to CRHIC, the largest steel bridge manufacturer in China. CRSBG is the only Chinese manufacturer of the Slussen Bridge project.
CRSBG won the bid at the end of 2017 and completed the production of Swedish bridge in 2019. The steel box girder section of Slussen Bridge has a total weight of 3,400 tons, a length of 140 meters, a width of 45 meters and a height of 7.5 meters. The manufacturing of the steel box girder is divided into three stages: plate unit manufacturing, section manufacturing and bridge assembly. The bridge is then transported as a whole to the bridge site for erection. While manufacturing, CRSBG has cracked the hardnuts such as huge volume, turning over of girder section, high coating requirements, stainless steel welding, overall transshipment, etc. It has also put more efforts in coordination and communication, technical breakthroughs, and gone all out to promote the manufacturing progress and deliver high-quality products.
