On June 6, China’s first Sky Train commercial operation line – the cliff sightseeing train project at Qingyunya Resort, Enshi, Hubei Province, undertaken by the consortium of China Railway Science & Industry Group and China Railway Liuyuan Group Co., Ltd., starts its construction together with the production resuming mobilization conference at Qingyunya Resort, which represents the official commencement of construction of China’s first Sky Train commercial operation line. This is the first time that CRHIC provides a complete system consisting of trains, rail bearers, points, etc. for a new standard rail transit project, which demonstrates the substantial progress that CRHIC has made in the field of new standard rail transit, and forecasts the new achievements to be made in infrastructure construction.
CRHIC has started planning in the new-standard rail transit industry as early as 2017, with focuses on the development of 'New Era', a new type of rail transit product which includes three new systems including straddle, maglev, and suspensive types, offering an all-in-one package of solutions to address the varied demands in new-standard rail transit.
In recent years, China Railway Science & Industry Group under CRHIC has made tremendous achievements in independent research and development. It has built a professional team on “Sky Train” R&D, and, relying on CRHIC’s full industrial chain of investment, engineering, construction and operation management, realized key technological breakthrough and innovation. To date, it has created a complete set of technologies for suspended rail transit system with proprietary intellectual property rights, developed a series of core technologies, and applied for 40 patents.
The “Sky Train” refers to suspended monorail train which travels by 'suspending on' the rail supported above it in the air by steel or cement columns. It occupies less space, enjoys wide open vision, and has its unique advantages in terms of short construction duration and flexible marshalling.
