On March 5, 2021, the cutter head of China’s super large diameter slurry TBM “Islander” exported overseas is slowly running, marking that the underpass road tunnel of Swina waterway in Poland has entered the TBM construction stage and that the cooperation between China Railway Engineering Equipment Group Co., Ltd. affiliated to CRHIC and European local contractors has risen to a new height.
The project, located in Swinoujscie in northern Poland, is planned to connect Uznam and Wolin. Upon its completion, the project will change the local situation of ferry commuting and shorten the travel time to a few minutes, considerably facilitating local residents. The tunnel underpassing Swina Strait has a total length of 1.44km, a maximum buried depth of 26m and a minimum turning radius of 300m, mainly passing through marine fine sand, silty clay, sandy clay with gravel, limestone, etc.
