The Phase Two Steel Structure Project of the world-class Super large SICOMINES copper-cobalt mine in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), which is built with the participation from China Railway Heavy Machinery Co., Ltd. (CRHM) under CRHI, passes acceptance recently. CRHM is responsible for the fabrication and installation of 17,200 tons of steel structure required in Phase II of the Project, the installation of 93,200 square meters of enclosure structure and the construction of other ancillary works.
The Project is located in the southwest of Kolwezi, the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) in Central Africa, and is composed of over 40 individual buildings, including mineral separation system, smelting system, calcination system and warehouse. As a large-volume project composed of several individual buildings, the Project is challenged by a tight construction period and difficulty in construction due to limitations of the local environment.
