On November 11, the Dohazari-Cox's Bazar Railway Project in Bangladesh, partly built by China Railway Jiujiang Bridge Engineering Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China Railway Hi-tech Industry Co., Ltd. (CRHIC), was successfully opened to traffic. Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina attended the inauguration ceremony and took the train.
The 103.5km railway, as a link between Chittagong, the largest harbor city in Bangladesh, and Cox's Bazar, an important tourist destination on the border of Bangladesh and Myanmar, is one of the top ten priority development projects of Bangladesh as well as an key project of the Bangladesh-China-India-Myanmar Economic Corridor. The main work scope of China Railway Jiujiang Bridge Engineering Co., Ltd. in the project covers the manufacturing and installation of 18 bridges, 5 pedestrian bridges at railway stations, and 10 steel structure canopies in the first bid section, in addition to the manufacturing and coating of 20 bridges in other bid sections.
