On June 17, China's first high-altitude large diameter hard rock TBM 'Xueyu Xianfeng' or 'Pioneer on Snow-covered Plateau' (diameter: 10.33 meters) rolls off the production line at the National TBM Production Center of China Railway Engineering Equipment Group affiliated to CRHIC! It is not only an open-type TBM with the largest diameter currently known in China, but also the world's first dual-structure TBM. It is of great significance in strongly underpinning tunnel construction under extreme geological conditions.
The equipment has a diameter of 10.33 meters, length of 245 meters and weight of 2,500 tons. When construction starts, Xueyu Xianfeng will pass through a 37.9-kilometer-long tunnel with a maximum burial depth of 1,406 meters along mountain and deep valley.
In view of the impact of high ground stress rockburst, large deformation of soft rock, high ground temperature, high-intensity earthquake and active fracture of the large buried and ultra-long tunnel construction, the design team of China Railway Engineering Equipment Group Co., Ltd. has added the functions of segment erection, auxiliary propulsion and intelligent auxiliary driving to the traditional open-type TBM design concept, and continuously and purposefully optimized a series of detail designs. The equipment is thus safer, more adaptive and reliable.
