On the morning of June 4, the world's first large diameter (9.53m) TBM 'Funing' with an ultra-small turning radius, manufactured by China Railway Engineering Equipment Group Co., Ltd. affiliated to CRHIC, rolls off the production line in Tianjin. With a designed minimum turning radius of 90m and the a designed maximum longitudinal slope of 9.02%, the equipment has the smallest turning radius and the largest longitudinal slope in the world's large-diameter TBMs.
It is a large-diameter TBM with ultra-small turning radius tailored by China Railway Engineering Equipment Group Co., Ltd. for Funing Pumped Storage Power Station in Hebei, with a length of 85 meters and weight of 1,700 tons. Considering the construction difficulties such as good surrounding rock integrity, high rock compressive strength, high quartz content and small turning radius of the excavated tunnel, China Railway Engineering Equipment Group Co., Ltd. adopts targeted innovative design and mature support system to enable efficient rock breaking, stable excavation and rapid support.
