On May 17, pre-assembly of the first tangent tower for the 275kV cross-sea transmission line project in Penang, Malaysia undertaken by China Railway Baoji Bridge (Yangzhou) Co., Ltd. under CRHIC was completed.

Rising up to 60m and weighing 78t (excluding cross arm blocks), the tangent tower is a straight single tower structure with regular hexagonal curved section and cross section continuously decreasing from the bottom of the tower to the top. It is composed of wall panels, longitudinal stiffeners, transverse partitions, anchor plates and flanges, etc, with the maximum cross-section being 3.1m × 3.6m. The steel tower consists of 6 segments bolted with internal flanges. The overseas project team strived to make technical breakthrough and developed technologies such as appearance control of landscape power transmission tower, tightness control of internal flange connection and overall straightness control of power transmission tower. They have gained rich manufacturing experience for similar projects in the future and the power tower industry.
