Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge being fully opened to the public, closure of Yarlung Zangbo River Grand Bridge over Sichuan-Tibet Railway in Zangmu, Harbin-Jiamusi Rapid Railway being put into use, Hong Kong Section of Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong High-speed Railway being successfully opened… Since Sept., several major projects undertaken by China Railway Baoji Bridge Group (CRBBG) have been executed successfully, making “made in CRBBG” frequently seen in ”super projects”.
❖Hong Kong Section of Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong High-speed Railway being successfully opened
On 23rd Sept., Hong Kong Section of Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong High-speed Railway was successfully opened to the public, indicating the 26 km Hong Kong Section of Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong High-speed Railway being formally incorporated into the national high-speed railway network which is 25 thousand km long in total. All switches in Hong Kong Section of Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong High-speed Railway were “perfectly tailored” by CRBBG with over 80 groups of them having 8 types and 3 kinds of under rail foundations. This series of switches has adopted self-dependent designs in regard to horizontal alignment, main body structure and stiffness equalization of switching area, which all have reached the world’s top levels.
❖Harbin-Jiamusi Rapid Railway being put into use
On 30th Sept., Harbin-Jiamusi Rapid Railway, the longest rapid railway in the Alpine-cold region of China, was put into operation, marking the entrance of Jiamusi, the city in the east of Heilongjiang Province, into an “era of high-speed railway”. In this high-latitude and extremely cold railway line, CRBBG undertook the supply of 404 groups of high-speed and speed-raising switches. Design and fabrication of these switches have incorporated cold-proof and freezing-proof modifications, and have met the construction requirements of high-security, high-stability and high-reliability so as to stand against heavy weather like wind, sand, rain, snow and fog, and to ensure the stable running of the high-speed train series with a speed of 200km/h.
❖ Closure of Yarlung Zangbo River Grand Bridge over Nyingchi-Lhasa Railway in Zangmu
On 10th Oct, construction of Sichuan-Tibet Railway with a total length of 1,629km was fully started. In the construction of Lhasa-Nyingchi and Chengdu-Kangding sections that started in the early stage, the domestically largest span half-through steel pipe arch bridge---Yarlung Zangbo River Grand Bridge on Lhasa-Nyingchi Railway in Zangmu was successfully joined up, creating a precedent for paint-free weathering-resistant steel bridge for railway. CRBBG participated in the bridge construction, and the 5 types of speed-rising and ordinary speed switches fabricated by it has begun to be set in main stations including Lhasa station.
❖“Sail-shape” steel tower
On 24th Oct., the world’s longest sea crossing bridge with a total investment over 70 billion---Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge was officially opened to the public, bringing Hong Kong, Zhuhai and Macao into the “half-hour intercity traffic circle”. In this construction, CRBBG undertook the fabrication of over 40,000 tons of steel girders and steel towers. Among them, the segments of the “sail-shape” steel towers, with the biggest one among them being about 1,000 tons, were lifted up by portal-frame-type jack in entire segments, rewriting the record about vertical rotating lifting and alignment of the entire steel tower in home and providing valuable experience for future large segment construction of steel tower in home.
